Electronic Arts (EA), in celebration of the up-and-coming Command & Conquer 4, has decided to allow PC gamers to download the following, free and legal from commandandconquer.com:
- Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun + Firestorm
- Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn
- Command & Conquer: Red Alert
Just click the commandandconquer.com link above to re-live some of the classics.
I hope they're DRM free, but I haven't had the chance to confirm at the time of this writing. If you download and try them, please return and post a comment to let us know if they have DRM or not.Be sure to look at the installation instructions for each, as there seems to be a little trickery involved in getting them working.

They are DRM free. They do take a little work to get running properly on x64 Windows 7 (I'd assume x64 Vista is the same way) as Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert have their original 16-bit installers.
They seem to have actually made the process a little easier now. If you go to the installation instructions for Tiberian Dawn, you'll now see a link for 64-bit users to a No-CD installer.
For Red Alert, go to the Vista instructions, and be sure to note the Red Alert Setup Manager.
One note, just this morning Avast told me that the "funpark.exe" that leads to the added funpark missions for Tiberian Dawn has a virus. I'm still checking into whether this has to do with the No-CD crack or if it actually has a virus. The No-CD/Tiberian Dawn install I got was not from that link (it's a newish link) but posted by the person EA references who created the latest patch for C&C: Tiberian Dawn.
